SEMH Jobs

This job board is used for posting SEMH jobs or SEMH teacher type roles. Often these are behaviour support, teaching assistant or SEN TA roles also. These roles may be in specialist or mainstream settings – this space is for all!

For schools – use the “Post A Job” button to create an account and post your job free. You can edit the listing following submission (requires admin approval).

For jobseekers – there are a range of job listings to choose from, please click “Find a job” for more details.

SEMH jobs are often the most challenging yet rewarding roles. With appropriate supervision and training, these jobs can make a huge difference to young people experiencing difficulties with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

It may also benefit you to register your CV with CV Library too in order to employers to find you. By doing this you can also support this website (sponsored listing). See the banner above for more details.

Often those working with SEMH needs will have experience of ADHD, autism, nurture, mental health and trauma in the cohorts they have been responsible for. They may have a range of strategies to help them to de-escalate challenging circumstances and will be committed to unconditional positive regard. The empathetic establishment of rules and boundaries is also key is these types of roles. Remaining calm, use of humour and commitment to ongoing CPD is a must. If you are keen to develop in this area, consider our recommended resources at the top of this page as well as our regular posting of reviews from new resources recently published. Keep an eye for new roles and get in touch via our contact page if you want more details on anything!

What is an SEMH teaching assistant?

An SEMH teaching assistant will likely work with individuals with SEMH needs or small groups of children in order to help them to develop a range of skills which will help them to overcome barriers to learning in the classroom.

What are SEN jobs?

SEN (Special Educational Needs) jobs are more wide ranging than SEMH roles, often with a focus on a wider, and often more complex, range of needs across all areas of SEN, not just SEMH.
